Proteins, DNA, and other molecules inside our bodies are intricate molecular machines that perform extremely delicate procedures in a synchronized manner. The ultra-fine movements of molecules can govern the function of an entire cell or even organism. For example, in cystic fibrosis, a mutation in one ion channel protein causes defective chloride transport and thus disease.
